From Aug 21 – 27, 2022, Beach Cities Health District (BCHD) will sponsor the first-ever Blue Zones Project Restaurant Week. This year’s event highlights select South Bay restaurants offering discounts that week. Each restaurant is a certified Blue Zones restaurant.
“Blue Zone” is a non-scientific term for geographic regions home to some of the world’s oldest people. Author Dan Buettner studied areas of the world where people live exceptionally long lives and coined the “Blue Zone” term.
The Blue Zones Project is a community-wide approach to creating healthier and more productive citizens. It uses permanent, evidence-based environmental and policy changes to motivate residents to adopt and maintain healthier lifestyles.
Blue Zones Project Restaurant Week takes place from Aug 21 – 27 and features discounts from South Bay restaurants such as Lido di Manhattan, Good Stuff, and Riviera Mexican Grill. In addition, Lazy Acres, Hermosa Beach, is also participating.

Very interesting, hopefully there are some good tasting options. Foods that taste good and is healthy for you is key. However it seems to have that combination you need to have deep pockets to afford to eat like that on a regular basis.

Hi Jonathan, coincidentally, Mark Canter from Canter’s Deli was interviewed today. He mentioned that it is more challenging to stay in business these days. Due to supply chain issues, the cost of produce (not meat) has gone from $4,300 per week to $10,000 per week. If you double your prices, your customers won’t return.
