I’ve written about Dominique’s Kitchen a number of times. It’s because the food is consistent, the quality of the ingredients is excellent and the prices are reasonable. The owners strive to make it your everyday dining destination. My wife and I decided to visit them for their Christmas Eve Dinner.
We arrived early while they were setting up to open. As each staff arrived, they quickly exchanged hugs and gifts. The restaurant was beautifully decorated for the holidays. Each table had a small Christmas tree centerpiece.
Dominique’s Kitchen had a special menu for Christmas Eve, a pre-fixe priced at $79.99 per person. We opted in for the optional wine pairing since we trust their wine acumen.
The first course was a complimentary amuse-bouche with pink sparkling wine. We each received two bite-sized puff pastries, one with cheese, the other with a red chile sauce.
The second dish was similar to the classic Crab Louie. The dish was layered with shredded lettuce, blue crab meat, hard-boiled egg, and peeled large shrimp. The salad had the familiar tasting Louie dressing. A dry Sancerre white wine nicely paired with the seafood.
For the main dish, my wife selected the “Three Meat Platter”. This came with smaller portions of roasted rack of lamb, grass-fed filet mignon and a pork tenderloin. The burgundy reduction sauce nicely complemented the meat. Further, the wine paired with this was a 2015 French Bordeaux. It has slight notes of berries with an excellent finish.
I selected a pasta dish that used a calamarata shape. This Neapolitan pasta got its name because it resembles calamari rings. Fresh lobster and crawfish meat, broccoli crowns, and Morel mushrooms were added. It was mixed in a delicious champagne and cream reduction.
An impressive Mille Feuille was served for dessert. Fresh puff pastry was filled with whipped cream and served with fresh berries. The Grand Marnier custard sauce gave some nice contrast. Since I was full, I was happy that the dessert wasn’t heavy!
If you haven’t experienced one of their themed dinners, you owe it to yourself to give it a try. Because the menu is limited, Chef Dominique Theval is able to personally oversee everything that goes out of the kitchen. Combined with friendly and attentive service, Dominique’s Kitchen is worth your attention.
