This year, John O’Groats will celebrate its 40th anniversary on Sat. Feb 26. Since its inception, this West LA restaurant has been owned and managed by the Jacoby/Tyler Family and cited by many as serving “The Best Breakfast in LA.” To celebrate this milestone, John O’Groats will give each of the first 40 parties to arrive on Feb 26 a $40 gift certificate!
I spent my formative years on LA’s westside, and one of our family’s favorite restaurants was Bit O’Scotland on Westwood Blvd. They had the best fish and chips served by women with British accents. After they closed, the owner, Robert Jacoby, opened John O’Groats in West LA on Pico Blvd. My first visit to John O’Groats was in their original location on Pico Blvd and Manning Ave next to the Rancho Park Golf Course.
Since that time, they have received numerous awards and recognitions. Esquire Magazine, New York Times, USA Today, the Los Angeles Times, and many others have featured them in articles and reviews. They are best known for their “Biscuits from Heaven,” a dish to order even if you have to take them home to enjoy.
If you have never dined at John O’Groats, my review from 3 years ago is here. I hope to see you in line on Saturday, Feb 26 to celebrate their 40th anniversary!
