LA Food Bowl, presented by the LA Times, celebrates the best of food, farms, and sustainability. Food Bowl spans the entire month of May and encompasses a mix of dinners, parties, tours, pop-ups, films, classes and Night Market in Grand Park May 8-12.

Things in a Bowl is another feature of the LA Food Bowl. This is a challenge laid down by the editorial staff of the Los Angeles Times to use one key ingredient, served up in a dish. The ingredient, the seldom-used artichoke. Akasha, Angelina Osteria, AR Cucina, Ayara Thai, Cecconi’s, and Union are some of the restaurants participating.
A favorite of mine is the Night Market, a five-day outdoor event at Grand Park May 8-12. Food Bowl will again take over the park with food trucks, vendors. I was happy to learn that one of my favorite taco vendors, La Huesuda will be there. Other vendors such as Philippe The Original and Prince of Venice will also be on-site.
Special events will take place within Night Market include a fried chicken party, a taco tribute, a dumpling and noodle night and a barbecue festival featuring pitmasters across the US.
As an added bonus, each day during Night Market, special ticketed and themed events include Collaboration Lab (May 8); Taco Tribute (May 9); Fried Chicken Party (May 10); L.A.’s Best Burger and Dumplings, Noodles and Rice (May 11); and All-Star BBQ (May 12). Nashville Hot Chicken Hotville Chicken will attend the Fried Chicken Party.
