I love breakfast. During my childhood, I was raised during the cholesterol scare. Because of that, my mom served boring breakfasts. It wasn’t until I lived on my own that I began experiencing truly delicious breakfasts at local area restaurants. Through Eater, I recently became aware of Foxy’s Restaurant in Glendale and I invited a friend for the experience.
Foxy’s Restaurant is located on Colorado Blvd, directly across from the Glendale Galleria. Despite an early morning arrival on a recent Sunday, the main parking lot was already full. Fortunately, they have another lot on Elk St. directly behind the restaurant.
Foxy’s Restaurant resides in an A-frame building, each end anchored with active fireplaces. A fully stocked bar is in the enter of the restaurant and diners sit on both ends of the establishment. The interior is rather dark with the walls lined with wood paneling and hanging vintage light bulbs added to the retro feel.
We were seated in the rear dining room which was quieter and conducive for conversation. Mini murals lined the whitewalls and the room benefited from an abundance of natural light. Champagne splits were only $6 each and we thought, what the heck, it’s the weekend!
The menu has typical American selections including french toast, pancakes, corned beef hash, and omelets. Mexican breakfast plates like huevos rancheros are available. While Foxy’s Restaurant is known for breakfast, they also serve lunch and dinner. They even have one page devoted to vegan breakfast, lunch and dinner entrees.
Chicken Chilaquiles is served with flair. They use red and white crispy tortilla chips and bake the dish with grilled chicken breast, cheddar cheese, and a tasty ranchero sauce. Scrambled eggs are draped over the top to complete the dish. You can substitute carne asada for chicken.
The Santa Fe is a flour tortilla topped with black beans and scrambled eggs. Housemade ranchero sauce is poured over the eggs. Finally, grated cheese and sliced avocados are added. My friend was happy with his selection.
Soujouk is a popular Middle Eastern sausage. The sausage is sliced and fried and mixed with scrambled eggs, sliced jalapenos, and tomatoes. Soujouk is a dry sausage made with beef and various middle eastern spices. It is packed full of flavor and a bit on the spicy side.
We also selected biscuits and they were the last to arrive. They came straight from the oven served piping hot. As I spread the whipped butter on the biscuit and watched it melt, I was excited about the taste. The biscuit nicely soaked in the melted butter and it was heavenly.
I highly recommend visiting Foxy’s Restaurant. They also have al fresco dining in their Fido-friendly courtyard. While we were eating, a person next to us received their machaca with eggs. I think I will order that the next time I’m here.
