When you think of vintage LA restaurants, you probably envision venerable establishments such as Phillipe’s the Original, Musso and Frank’s, and the Pantry in downtown LA. You would be hard-pressed to think of one when asked about the South Bay. I was surprised to learn that Mickey’s Deli will celebrate its 70th Anniversary on Sat Apr 8.
On Apr 8, from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m., Mickey’s Deli will feature 70-cent Sauce Sandwiches and 70-cent Mickey’s Combos from their limited menu. The first 70 people in line will receive a chance to win a 65″ TV and a choice of their Mickey’s Combo or Sauce Sandwich. After that, they can enjoy 70-cent selections from the limited menu.
Additional raffle tickets will be given out until 3 p.m. These prizes include a $300 catering order, a $200 gift certificate, a free pizza per week for an entire year, and a weekly free sandwich for a year. Additional items include Limited Edition Mickey’s 70th Anniversary merch that will be available only for purchase throughout April!
In 1953, 22-year-old Michael Angelo “Mickey” Mance opened Mickey’s Deli. From this location, three generations have proudly served Italian cuisine for over 70 years, offering an irresistible combination of flavor, affordability, and a full assortment of spirits and beer.
In addition to sandwiches, Mickey’s Deli is well known for its pizzas, pasta, and calzones. My wife and I recently enjoyed their famous heart-shaped Valentine’s Day pizza. I evidenced the number of fans expressing their love of red sauce, melted cheese, and crust.
During my years as a beach bum, my favorite beach location was 2nd Street in Hermosa Beach. The white sand beach is clean, family-friendly, and steps away from Mickey’s Deli, where you can get a delicious Italian sub sandwich and enjoy it on the sand while watching the waves. It doesn’t get much better than that.
Bring your beach chair, and celebrate with Mickeys Deli! No rain is forecasted, and the weather will be magnificent!
