Mom’s Touch is Korea’s equivalent to Kentucky Fried Chicken, with a menu solely focused on fried chicken. They serve chicken sandwiches, chicken wings, and chicken tenders and it is named “Mom’s Touch” because their philosophy is that their food is made by the thoughtful hand of a mother. Mom’s Touch recently opened in Gardena.
While Mom’s Touch is considered to be a fast-food establishment, they don’t want the food experience to be that way. Their chicken is marinated for 24-hours in a Cajun spice blend that includes red pepper, cayenne pepper, and paprika before it is hand-battered and deep-fried. Everything is made to order.
The menu consists of fried chicken sandwiches, chicken fingers, and chicken wings. Their chicken sandwich gives diners a choice of thigh or breast meat and includes crisp iceberg lettuce, onion, pickles, and sweet-savory “secret” sauce on a brioche bun. The chicken is extremely fresh, tender, and moist.
The chicken wings (4 piece price $6.49) come in six different varieties, including two unusual flavors, like “cheesy onion” and “apple zing,” while the chicken fingers (6 piece price $8.49) include a choice of dipping sauce (barbecue, ranch, chipotle mayo, habanero aioli, or a Louisiana-style hot sauce). An order includes two dipping sauces; additional dipping sauces are only .25 ea.
The fries are twice-fried and retain their crispiness for a long time. I found the coleslaw to be creamy and the perfect balance of sweet and sour in the dressing and not saturated with mayonnaise.
I hope Mom’s Touch succeeds. They somehow manage to balance fast food with quality ingredients and deliver it at an affordable price. I’ll definitely return.
Open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.
