San Pedro Fish Grille in Rolling Hills Estates recently celebrated their first anniversary. To mark this occasion, they offered a free t-shirt for the first 365 customers and tax-free dining to help their customers during this tax season. Live mariachis were on hand to add to the celebration.
The restaurant is located in the Peninsula Shopping Center in Rolling Hills Estates. They have an excellent location within the shopping center near the highly traveled corner of Hawthorne Blvd and Silver Spur Rd. When I arrived, the mariachis were playing lively tunes and that quickly set the tone for the evening!
Their menu is extensive and it is a blend between an American fish house and a Mexican Mariscos restaurant. Alaskan King Crab, Maine Lobster, Snow Crab and Shrimp highlight the shellfish items. They feature responsibly sourced fish such as swordfish, yellowtail, barramundi, Atlantic salmon and tilapia. Once cooked, it may be included in a salad, taco, burrito, or in one of their famous seafood trays.
After the order is placed, diners are given a vibrating pager. Diners can watch the preparation process due to the open kitchen. The staff works effectively to produce orders efficiently. I happen to like that the restaurant is spotless and while I was there, the staff quickly cleaned up a minor spill.
Because I’m reducing my carb intake, I selected the salmon combination plate with vegetable fajitas and cole slaw. The salmon was perfectly prepared; the exterior was slightly crisp and the inside was moist and flaked away with my fork. The fajitas were nicely seasoned and the coleslaw was creamy and delicious.
If you arrive as a group, you can take advantage of their famous fish or shrimp trays. These impressive seafood options are served on cafeteria-sized trays with a heaping amount of seafood, fajita vegetables, potatoes, and other options of your choosing. Because they have so many sides available, you can easily customize your meal based on your choosing.
Their vegetarian items are thoughtfully prepared and include fire-roasted corn, vegetable fajitas, housemade coleslaw, mixed green salad, and grilled zucchini.
The kid’s menu features popcorn shrimp, salmon or tilapia, cheese quesadilla or a grilled cheese sandwich. Each of these items includes a side like fries or garlic bread.
Beer and wine are available and some of their beers are available on tap. Most are from Mexico: Pacifico, Modelo, In addition, you can get a Michelada with a mix of salt and chili powder on your cup.
The prices at San Pedro Fish Grille are very reasonable. The average price of a fish plate with two sides is approximately $15 and my salmon filet was quite sizeable. With kid plates at $4.99, San Pedro Fish Grille is an ideal dining destination both for families and solo diners.

Hi Bryan,
Great review! Everything sounds wonderful. I did not know this restaurant was there and I can’t wait to try it.. Any idea why they call it the “San Pedro Fish Grille” and it’s in Rolling Hills Estates?? Is there one in San Pedro as well??

Dean,
Thank you for the nice words. Their original location is in the waterfront area of San Pedro and named San Pedro Fish Market. They have since varied the concept to a fast casual restaurant and have locations in Wilmington, Harbor City and Rolling Hills Estates.
