Do you have that favorite neighborhood restaurant? It’s the one where you are warmly greeted when you arrive. They also serve the food you enjoy whether you are feeling good or bad. The Henry just opened up on Robertson in West Hollywood and their goal is to be the greatest neighborhood restaurant around.
The combination of an open floor architecture, abundance of natural lighting and high ceilings makes The Henry warm and inviting. Seating ranges from sofas to booths, tables and high tops. The high ceilings were effective at keeping noise down to a minimum.
They have a large selection of espresso and coffee drinks. It goes without saying that their flat white is tasty, but they even have cortado and gibraltar on the menu. Gourmet coffee drinks include ingredients like almond milk, cocoa, cream, caramel and hazelnut. They obtain their coffee beans from Forster and Burnett, a direct trade coffee roaster.
The Fig & Ginger Mule is their Moscow Mule offering. It was made with two different premium vodkas, Hangar One and Figenza Fig, lime and pomegranate. This was delightfully smooth and refreshing. It didn’t have the sharp “bite” that many Moscow Mules have.
My friend enjoys a good Bloody Mary and I was happy that he gave me the thumbs up after trying this one. Henry’s French Paloma sounds like a drink for royalty, but I ordered it anyway. Kettle One instead of Mezcal is used for the base. Pamplemousse liqueur, fresh grapefruit, and grapefruit soda rounded out the ingredients. The taste? It was a lighter and smoother version of the classic Paloma cocktail.
The Smashed Avocado Toast is topped with crushed egg, farmhouse melted cheddar and buckwheat. What makes theirs unique is that they add salt, pepper and other spices to give it a boost on the seasoning. This is a welcome variation over plain avocado toast.
Health-conscious diners will appreciate the Pomegranate Raspberry Greek Yogurt. Mixed into the yogurt were bits of granola and pepitas. The sliced bananas, blackberries, strawberries, and blueberries were carefully placed on the top which added to the presentation. I enjoyed the contrast between the slightly tart yogurt matched with the naturally sweet granola.
The Henry creates a modern twist on huevos rancheros. The Ranchero Breakfast Bowl consists of two fried corn tortillas topped with tomatillo pumpkin seed salsa, refried lentils, avocado, tomato, and queso blanco. The combination of ingredients worked very well and they also managed to keep it healthy by boosting the fiber content.
Chicken Fried Chicken is a classic American offering. The Henry elevates this dish by placing fried chicken over housemade biscuits and topping it with country gravy and two sunny side up eggs. The exterior of the chicken was tasty and had a nice crunch; I suspect that it was brined in buttermilk before it was fried because the exterior was crunchier than most fried chicken.
Gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan offerings are plentiful and delicious. For example, the Vegan Sausage and Potato Hash has organic tofu, turmeric, grilled portobello mushroom, charred onion, avocado hummus and salsa as its ingredients, demonstrating that they are dedicated to creating healthy dishes with a lot of flavor.
Don’t drink alcohol? Not to worry, The Henry has you covered. Fresh fruit smoothies are made at the bar. They also have ice green and black teas and kombucha brewed in-house. And don’t forget about their coffee and espresso drinks.
Enjoy lunch with a colleague, gather the family together for dinner, or treat yourself to a post-work drink at the bar. The Henry has the environment, food and drink to match. With so much going for it, it is on track to become the greatest neighborhood restaurant.

Hi Bryan,
Another great review!! I would like to try the “Rancheros Breakfast Bowl”, which you highlighted in your review. I notice they open at 7:00 a.m. during the week for Breakfast. That probably would be the best time to go and miss the weekend Brunch crowd.
Take care………….Dean
